Tall and athletic actress Catherine Bell was born Aug. 14, 1968 in London. Moved with her mother in to Los Angeles, California, United States, when she was three years old. Studied at the University of California in the specialty «engineer biomedik», but then dropped out and decided to go in the model. Although she had appeared in some television commercials as a child, Catherine originally wanted to be an actress.
Catherine Bell began modeling part-time while in college. She put her studies on hold when she headed to Japan to model for several months, but she still felt that her shyness was holding her back. She decided to become an actress. Her parents supported her decision to pursue acting (rather than the more secure medical field), but it took her years of auditions to finally get the break she needed.
She hired an acting coach to help her develop her skills. A few movies and TV shows later, Catherine auditioned (five times) for the lead female role of Marine Major Sarah ''Mac'' MacKenzie on the CBS TV action-drama series ''JAG.'' Knowing the show's originator, Donald Bellisario, from having made a guest appearance in the first season ''JAG'' episode, ''Skeleton Crew,'' Catherine wrote him a long letter about how she loved the ''Mac'' character and how she felt she was the best person for the part. She was cast in the role.Catherine is currently married to Adam Beason, 29, and lives in Sherman Oaks, California. She has two Italian greyhound doggies, Zoe and Leo. She is fluent in the Persian language Farsi. She enjoys painting, kick boxing, sky diving, bungy jumping, dirt biking, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding. Her mother is her personal assistant. Catherine started out with guest appearances on television shows like Dream On in 1994, Friends in 1995 ("The One with the Baby on the Bus"), Hot Line in 1996, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys in 1997, and a recurring role on Sin City Spectacular in 1998.
